Christmas is just around the corner and of course Christmas food is something many are looking forward to at this time other than the year end sales! What food is Christmas food? In different countries, people celebrate Christmas with various Christmas dishes. Here are some of the common ones.

ROAST TURKEY
Roast Turkey Roast turkey is one of the Christmas birds that has become the trademark of Christmas food nowadays. Other Christmas birds also served for Christmas are swan, peacock and another common one is goose. Turkey is stuffed and roasted or just roasted without stuffing to be served for this occasion. Well, I personally think roast turkey is so delicious it shouldn’t be only serve during Christmas
. Making of roast turkey can be easy. Marinate a turkey with black pepper and salt (or some herbs if desired) for a couple of minutes, coat with butter and roast in an electric oven or microwave oven till cooked. If you do not have an oven big enough for a whole turkey, try this simple Christmas food recipe with a turkey drumstick as a start.

CANDY CANE
Candy Cane Another not to be missed Christmas food or is it a decoration? Lol! Well, candy cane served both purpose. Often colourful, this easy-to-hang Christmas food also serves as Christmas tree ornaments, getting attention on the tree especially of kids. Candy cane was not so popular back then when the making is so manual. Ever since invention of machine that automates production of candy cane, it became a common Christmas treat.
Pies Mince pie, apple pie, pumpkin pie and several other types of pies also made Christmas food especially mince pie.
Fruitcakes Other than often served as bride cake, fruitcake is also a Christmas food. It is a sweet cake made of dried fruits, honey and nuts. Other varieties (or similar) of fruitcakes served as Christmas food include Stollen (Germany) and Panettone (Brazil, Italy).

STOLLEN
Gingerbread Made of honey (traditionally) or treacle or molasses, gingerbread is often made alike to cookies. It is sometimes also made in the form of gingerbread man or gingerbread house (remember Hansel and Gretel’s house?). Gingerbread was perhaps the first cookie associated with Christmas.
Christmas Cookies Christmas cookies are prepared before Christmas holidays with all kinds of sweet biscuits. They are served throughout the Christmas period and sometimes exchanged amongst neighbours and friends.

CHRISTMAS COOKIES
Christmas Pudding Christmas pudding is actually a plum pudding served during Christmas. Rather than being served as dessert, it is served as the first dish during Christmas, surprisingly. Christmas pudding contains mixed dried fruits and spices, garnished with holly or berries – believed to keep away witches!

CHRISTMAS PUDDING (PLUM PUDDING)
Beverages Now you have a table full of Christmas food but what to serve as beverage? Well, you will not forget how Coca Cola comes about would you? Other than that, the traditional one would be mulled wine, Christmas beer and Champagne. Red wine is another common drink during Christmas.
