Rice Cooker Chicken Rice is one of those simple rice dishes that save you time and hassle. Rather than preparing several dishes to serve with rice, Rice Cooker Chicken Rice has a combination of rice, vegetable and chicken dish – all-in-one! Due to simplicity, Rice Cooker Chicken Rice is often served as homemade chicken rice and rarely found in restaurant.
Different varieties of rice dishes can be created using similar cooking methods, depending on your creativity. My other favourite of Rice Cooker Rice recipes are Yam Rice and Dried Oyster Rice. You can also turn these rice dishes into porridge by adding more water to cook the rice. But beware that yam turns too tender when cooked too long and may eventually melt into the hot porridge. Unless you like it that way, you can add the yam only when water starts boiling in the rice cooker.
Note the rice:water ratio when cooking Rice Cooker Chicken Rice dish. Water is slightly lesser than we would normally use for plain white rice. This is because stir-fried ingredients contribute certain level of liquid from the sauce they created. If you added too little water, you can always add some more and continue to cook the rice. Rice Cooker Chicken Rice Recipe (Serves 4 pax)

Rice Cooker Chicken Rice Cooking Steps
Ingredients:
- 3 cups of rice (rinsed with clear water)
- 4 cups of water (to cook the rice)
- 5 strands of long beans (cut into 2 inches length)
- 2 tbsp of margarine/ butter
- ¼ tsp of salt
- Pepper powder to taste
- 3 tbsp of cooking oil
- 2 nos. of shallot (thinly sliced)
- 2 nos. of chicken whole leg (cut to desired size)
- 2 thumb sized ginger (thinly sliced)
- 2 tbsp of dark soya sauce
- ¼ tsp of salt
Preparation:
- Put rice, water and salt in a rice cooker. Mix well and let still. Lay margarine and long beans on top and season with pepper. Set aside (do not cook first).
- Heat cooking oil in a pan and stir-fry shallots till fragrant.
- Add chicken to the pan and stir-fry till slightly cooked.
- Add ginger and continue to stir-fry till fragrant.
- Add dark soya sauce and stir to mix evenly.
- Turn off fire.
- Slowly transfer stir-fried ingredients from pan to rice cooker. Do not stir the rice to prevent the rice from being unevenly cooked. Turn on rice cooker.
- Rice Cooker Chicken Rice is ready when rice is cooked.
