The Chipmunk brothers are back – this time round with their counterparts, the Chipettes. Known also as the Squekquel, there’s lots of expectations on this.. especially so after their first movie did pretty well in the box office.
In their 2nd movie, Alvin, Simon & Theodore remain true to their characters – mischievious, smart & cuddly. Alvin is much more mischievious and Simon seems to grow smarter… but the cuteness of Theodore seems to wane a little. However, the kids can still fall in love with these characters.

And in fact, they have more to love than just the 3 chipmunks. Their counterparts – Brittany, Eleanor and Jeanette, are not to be outdone and are quite likeable too, especially the lead Chipette, Brittany. She seems to take more limelight here with her good & sexy moves accompanied by the cool music.

It’s a pity that despite the quite good animated characters, however, the movie is let down by its slapstick comedy & simple storyline. And the fact that the real actors still don’t seem to connect with the Chipmunks again (many times they seem to stare into empty space).

Overall, this movie is something more for the kids. Chipmunk (or Chipettes) fans will be divided. Fans of the 1st movie will most likely be a little disappointed.
