Synopsis: This action-packed film plays out like an Indonesian version of acclaimed movie Ong-Bak (2003): MERANTAU WARRIOR is about a young man (Uwais) leaves his rural town and adolescence for the big, bad city – this time it’s Jakarta – where he saves a girl from human trafficking but then must fight for their lives in a jaw-dropping action sequence.

Review:-
Asia or particularly Asean seems to be buzzing with action flicks. First we have the many action flicks from Thailand, and now we have Indonesia’s Merantau Warrior.
The movie should gel well for fans of action packed movies. But even non action packed movie goers will most likely like this movie.
Though Merantau Warrior may seem like another Asian action flick on the surface, but beneath it lies an inspiring story… and this is what makes it tick with the audience.

Audience especially the urbanites, will be able to relate to the hero’s journey. With wanting a change in his life, he thus made the big move to the big city. But like life is, its not smooth – and clearly for him, it’s so too.
But like most other heroes, he is not to give up. He is determined to achieve what he dreams about, and will do anything to achieve them. This never-give-up part of his character is what inspires the audience, and to us, is the main draw of this action packed movie.

Conclusion
Worth a watch for those who like action packed movies or simply love to be inspired. Only setback, it’s a bit close to most Indonesia’s style of movies – ie don’t expect a happy ending.
