There’s always an air of celebration come August with Malaysia’s National Day just round the corner. Mood is usually high and merry and it’s not just the government saying so.
The people themselves seem to partake in this month of joy, and one such person is Malaysia’s very own Miss Malaysia 2008/ 2009 – Soo Wincci.
Wincci has recently just released her self debut album as a gift to multi racial Malaysia, bringing in many composers from all races to compose the different languages songs. Amongst them, award winning composers Ajai & Mac Chew. Though this is not the first time one has done so, but still, it gives a reason to celebrate!
In this album, Wincci sings Beauty With A Purpose in 3 different languages – English, Malay and Chinese. Interestingly, she composed this song & wrote the English lyrics herself (Chinese lyrics composed by Chang Guo Xiang, BM lyrics by Nora Ismail).

This is truly a Dream for Wincci, who since young has always dreamt of being a singer. It only seemed yesterday that she was crowned Miss Malaysia, but Wincci has actually done a lot ever since from charity projects to getting herself into the entertainment scene.
The crown is definitely the start and this album is one of the steps of her realizing her dreams to be in the entertainment industry…
We wish her all the success, which we think she will. After all, Malaysia already has successful former Miss Malaysia’s – like Michelle Yeoh and Erra Fazira!
Interesting facts about Soo Wincci:
1. She has a law degree from UK (her father has always emphasized her education first before singing, and so she did!)
2. Wincci also has Master in Business Administration from University of Sunshine Coast. On the same day after her graduation, she flew to South Africa to represent Malaysia in the 58th Miss World Beauty Pageant!
3. Amongst the many other competitions Wincci joined before being crowned Miss World Malaysia 2008/ 2009 include: Miss Oriental World (2nd runner up), Miss Miss Oriental World (2nd runner up), Miss Chinatown (1st runner up), Miss Oriental World (2nd runner up), Miss InterContinental World (Winner, represented Malaysia in the international round in China), Miss Malaysia Universe (top 5). Wow, she sure is one determined girl!
4. At Miss World Malaysia 2008 competition, Wincci performed in five different languages, “First Love” (Japanese), “Hope” (self-composed English song), “Bukan Cinta Biasa” (Malay), “Conquered” (Mandarin) and “My Pride (Cantonese). The judges were impressed and Wincci was awarded the inaugural Miss Talented.
5. For the first time among MWM winners, Wincci set the record as being the ambassadors for 3 different charity organisations to raise funds. They are, stART Foundation, Ti-Ratana Social Welfare and the Red Crescent Society… btw, Wincci has pledged her royalty from the song Beauty with a Purpose (available in three languages) to stART Foundation
