Style Guide: Dressing for a Dinner
Most of us look forward to formal dinners such as wedding dinners and graduation dinners as a chance to dress up and look pretty! However, it is sometimes quite hard to decide on what to wear. Which is why I have decided to write this style guide! Here are my personal tips on dressing for a formal dinner!
Tip # 1: Dressing up has many meanings!
Many people simply divide dressing into dressing casual or dressing up. This is where they make the mistake of thinking that dressing up for nights out is the same as dressing for dinners when it clearly is not!
Therefore, don’t make the mistake of wearing your clubbing outfits and heavy, sparkly make-up to a formal dinner!
Tip #2: Wear heels! This is you chance!

We all have at least one pair of exquisitely gorgeous heels we put on display on our shoe cabinet but rarely wear out because they’re just too painful! Well guess what, formal dinners are just the place to wear them!
Heels make your legs look longer which adds to the glam factor! Worried about the pain? Well it’s a dinner isn’t it? Surely you don’t expect to be walking around much!
Tip #3: Pretty dresses don’t have to be expensive!

Many of us look forward to dressing up for these dinners but get bummed out about how much we have to spend on these dresses. Well ladies, believe it or not, you really don’t have to spend all that much to get a nice dinner dress nowadays. I have two words for you: Blog shops!
Blog shops are the perfect places to get gorgeous dresses for half the price of dresses in retail stores! Check out this gorgeous satin piece from www.purplepolkadotshop.blogspot.com! Sexy, classy and above all, cheap!
Tip #4: Make sure your accessories match!
Accessories are an important part of every outfit, but especially so with dinner outfits as your dinner accessories tend to be sparklier and therefore standout more.
Try to stick to one color for your jewelry. For example, if you choose to wear a silver necklace, opt for silver earrings instead of gold ones. Also make sure that your shoes match your dress and failing that, at least your clutch. A dinner outfit shouldn’t have too many colors!
So these are my tips for dressing for a formal dinner. Just remember this simple rule: less is more! Stick to simple but beautiful for an elegant, sophisticated look.
