On Saturday the 19th of October, Mist Club in Bangsar found their venue packed to the maximum with eager fashionistas and enthusiastic college student. Why? For the much anticipated Victim A La Mode event, of course!
Victim A La Mode was a fashion show organized by the students of HELP University College in an effort to raise funds for their HMC annual ball and the Women’s Aid Organization. Tickets were priced at an economical RM 20 with a free drink thrown in! With generous sponsors such as Mist Club (an increasingly popular venue for fashion related events) and Tropicana Hair Academy as well as gorgeous clothes from Giordano, Rebellz and the students of SML Fashion Academy, the event was sure to be a success!
The show was hosted by the bubbly Denise Chan and kicked off at 8pm, starting with Giordano’s fall/winter collection. As usual, Giordano pleased the crowd with their simple, youthful pieces that were pulled together in several surprisingly sophisticated looks. HELP’s very own models strutted down the runway looking edgy and stylish, it certainly changed the way we look at Giordano!

Next came Season 3 of Rebellz fashion line. It was the first time the public got to see this online boutique’s latest line and let me tell you, it was impressive! Their cocktail dresses were sexy, sophisticated and absolutely gorgeous! The designs were creative and different yet not over the top. Latest trends such as exposed zippers and bustiers were infused into several pieces and the silhouette of each and every piece was beautifully flattering. View their line at www.rebellz.com!

The show continued with creations by 8 young designers of SML Fashion Academy. This time, the designs were a lot bolder. The designers went all out with sexy leather, trendy studs and so much more! Though the OTT designs were distracting, you need only to look a little closer to see that much care and work has been put into the detailing. It is awe inspiring to see the works of the next big things in the Malaysian fashion industry.

Last but not least, models strutted down the runway clad in the outrageous pieces created by Julia Leong. Also a student at the SML Fashion Academy, Julia is the Malaysian International Fashion Week Best Casual Collection Award Winner, a Malaysia Young Designer Competition Finalist and a Triumph Inspiration Award finalist! Her designs are bold, creative and definitely different! They certainly drew the attention of the crowd!
I think it is safe to say that we were all impressed by how well planned the event was. The runway show was enjoyable with all the girls in the club drooling over the clothes and all the boys in the club drooling over the models. Everybody had a good time and we have all learnt to appreciate and support the Malaysian fashion industry!
